Book Title: HoliGay by K.M. Neuhold

Published: January 1, 2021

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

I’ve been in love with my best friend for almost as long as I can remember. The only problem is he’s straight. At least I thought he was. But when he gets me to Fiji for Christmas, he’s suddenly looking at me in a way I’ve never seen before. Could this all be real, or is he just HoliGay?

HoliGay makes K.M. Neuhold one of my go-to authors for feel-good contemporary romance stories.

🔍 How I Discovered It

The same with my recent English novel reads, I found this one from the Winter Wonderland giveaway. Neuhold is not a new author to me as I’ve read a couple of their books before and enjoyed them. I was hoping that same thing would happen here.

▫️ Fluffy yet hot

K.M. Neuhold is definitely someone I turn to when I’m in need of something light, fluffy, and full of hot sex. Matt and Caspian have that easy camaraderie and undeniable chemistry in and out of the bed. Typical of Neuhold’s book, this one has loads of sweet moments as well as hot sex. It has low angst too, though, I wish there was more. Maybe a little more struggle on Matt’s part.

▫️ Pacing

Each chapter is a step forward towards Matt’s character and improvement in their relationship – which can be good or bad depending on how you see Matt’s easy acceptance of his attraction towards his best friend.

While Matt’s bi awakening and acceptance came fast, I still liked how each chapter is like a level, like a step closer to the realization of his feelings and an improvement in their relationship. So it isn’t like whooosh I’m in love. More like, a gradual step-by-step in realizing his feelings.

▫️ A warm Christmas

This has a different Christmas vibe than the rest of the reads I had. Instead of snow and coats, we get the sun and the beach. I love that vibe. The story is set in Fiji so it’s a tropical holiday for the main characters.

🥰 Who Would Like It?

For anyone who likes friends-to-lovers stories with more fluff and sex than angst.

There are no related series to this. But, I’ve found out that the Love Logic series (another series from K.M. Neuhold) continues with Theo and Alex’s story! I loved them in the first book, and I’d love to read their love story.
